«Ο Γέροντας, όπως αναφέρθηκε, απαντούσε συνήθως σε ερωτήματα. Γι’ αυτό στη σύνθεση των θεμάτων που έγινε από λόγους του σε διάφορες περιστάσεις, κρατήθηκε η διαλογική μορφή. Μέσα στους διαλόγους εντάχθηκαν και αποσπάσματα από τις επιστολές που έστελνε στο Ησυχαστήριο ή παραθέματα από τα βιβλία που έγραψε ο ίδιος, καθώς και ό,τι συμφωνούσε θεματικά από τις επιστολές, που μας εμπιστεύθηκαν εν Χριστώ αδελφοί, ή τις σημειώσεις τις οποίες είχαν κρατήσει κατά τις συζητήσεις τους με τον Γέροντα, ώστε να δοθεί το κάθε θέμα με την περισσότερη δυνατή πληρότητα. Καταβλήθηκε προσπάθεια να διατηρηθεί, κατά το δυνατόν, η αμεσότητα και η χάρη του προφορικού λόγου του Γέροντα. Παρέμειναν επίσης και κάποιες επαναλήψεις, που τόνιζαν τα νοήματα και κέντριζαν τις καρδιές, και μερικά από τα συχνά επιφωνήματα κατά τη ροή των αφηγήσεων της παλλόμενης καρδιάς του από τη μεγάλη αγάπη προς τον Θεό και τον άνθρωπο. Οι αναφορές στη μοναχική ζωή είναι συχνές. Αυτό συμβαίνει όχι μόνο γιατί ο Γέροντας απευθύνεται σε μοναχές, αλλά γιατί την “χαρά της καλογερικής”, που πηγάζει από την ολοκληρωτική ανάθεση της ζωής του μοναχού στον Θεό, ήθελε να την αναζητήσει και ο κάθε λαϊκός, για να λυτρωθή από την ανασφάλεια που φέρνει η πίστη στο εγώ και να χαρεί τον Παράδεισο από αυτήν τη ζωή».
